Microsoft announced there would be no patches for a critical Windows Server 2003 IIS bug

The second-best time to upgrade your Windows Server 2003 applications is Now, the best time was 20 months ago. For more than 18 months, VirtaMove has been warning customers about this eventuality. Running on Operating Systems that have reach end-of support is risky. To get the most out of Microsoft’s new security and operating system features you need to move your applications forward. Not just off of Windows Server 2003 to 2008, but all the way to 2012 and 2016. Many Microsoft customers believe that procrastination is easy – when in reality procrastination wastes time, energy and holds you back from embracing change and creating a future.

If you’re still running WS2003, you need to get to work. You need to modernize.

If Microsoft customers want to move forward, move to the cloud, use new Docker-managed Windows containers, and unlock new innovations, they need to modernize now. All Microsoft’s new and innovative technology runs only on the latest versions of its software. IT organizations that knowingly fail to fix security bugs are taking on significant financial and reputational risk if data breaches occur. “Attackers could, therefore, use the flaw to perform lateral movements if they gain access to corporate networks.” – Windowsreport

The Second-Best time to Upgrade is Now

Industry analysts estimate the unpatched Microsoft IIS 6 web server flaw affects millions of production websites. When it comes to Windows Server modernization, there are no rational reason and no benefit from sticking with a procrastination strategy. Tools exist to help you automate the migration of legacy applications to new Operating Systems.

Procrastination is a costly dead end.

Automated Modernization offers a path to the future now, and innovative tools and techniques exist today to make upgrading easy. You really don’t need to ignore OS bugs and security exposures in your business.

Thinking about ending the procrastination cycle? Let us know. We will be glad to help you update your and protect your servers. Email us or give us a call, we are happy to talk about how best to modernize your applications.
