Alaska Airlines is a major American airline headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It is one of the five largest airlines in the United States when measured by fleet size, scheduled passengers carried, and the number of destinations served.
The airline operates out of five hubs, with its primary hub being at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. As of 2020, the airline employs over 16,000 people and has been ranked by J. D. Power and Associates as having the highest customer satisfaction of any of the traditional airlines for twelve consecutive years.
The Challenge
Alaska Airlines had some 350 windows servers running Windows Server 2003. Given that Windows Server 2003 is no longer supported those environments became a risk liability. The servers ran old applications, without available install- media and source files.
